Who’s the Boss Here?
Well, it certainly isn't Alex!

Boo enjoys asserting her authority over her peeps. Here she is putting Alex in his place by using him as her pedestal.

As I took these photos I kept calling her to get off and she totally ignored me.

Here she is in one of her more adorable moments - posing on her fluffy pink blankie. Work it baby!

Boo’s Beau
Boo has a visitor that has been coming around almost on a daily basis. He's a very handsome grey cat and I don't think Boo realizes that she could do a lot worse. So far she has spurned his offers of friendship and has even chased him out of 'her' yard. The last time he visited she just looked at him, turned her back on him, and walked into the house. I don't think she could be any clearer in her rejection of him. We're not sure where he lives or what his name is but we think he has honest intentions.

My New Pink Blanket
One of my birthday gifts this year was a very soft pink blanket that I can wrap around myself while sitting on the couch watching TV or working on my laptop. It is really, really soft and very warm. And Boo loves it too!

I don't mind sharing as long as she understands that it is mine.

Christmas Eve
'Twas the night before Christmas, and it was cold and wet in San Diego. I was snuggled up in my favorite chair next to the fireplace reading a good book and Alex was on the couch working on his laptop with Boo by his side. All that needed to be prepared ahead of time had been taken care of, the house was clean and tidy, I felt relaxed and was looking forward to Christmas day. It was a good time for a glass of eggnog. It took only 2 minutes for me to go to the kitchen and pour 2 small glasses of eggnog - I mean, how much can change in the seating arrangements in just 2 minutes?

It's amazing how quickly this old and arthritic cat can move when she really wants something. Boo spent the rest of the evening on the chair and I was relegated to the couch.

The Frog of the Northern Neck

Klaus was about to knock off what he thought was a leaf from the side of the shed and then realized it was a frog - Fred the Frog, perhaps?

Fred the Cricket
Recently, we had noticed droppings around a small portion of our patio. At first we thought we had mice but we couldn't figure out where they were coming from or going to - meaning that the droppings were clustered in a particular spot. Soon after, we discovered we had a huge cricket living in a potted plant near that spot and after some online research we think that the cricket (which we have of course named Fred) is making the mess. As you can see, Fred is quite a beast of a cricket.

2 Great Great Danes
Janet and Klaus are dog sitting a friend of Falcon for a couple of weeks. Brandel is a female great dane and weighs only 135 lbs compared to Falcon who comes in at a cool 200 lbs.

Here Falcon quickly establishes who the boss is by laying down on Brandel's bed

Doggie Tuna Casserole
I was checking out an 'Everyday with Rachel Ray' magazine the other day and came across this dog recipe. I don't have a dog and I'm not even sure how healthy this recipe is for them but if you try it please send me a photo of your dog enjoying it.

Doggie Tuna Casserole

1/2 cup 1/2 &1/2 or whole milk
1 6oz can tuna in water, drained
1 cup cooked egg noodles
1/2 cup frozen peas, thawed
2 tbsp grated parmigiano-reggiano cheese

In a medium saucepan, heat the 1/2 and 1/2 or milk over medium heat. Mash in the tuna. Stir in the noodles, peas, and cheese. Let cool

Serves 4 pups

Hamish and Falcon
Hamish and Falcon reside at the home of Janet and Klaus. Falcon was adopted from an older lady who thought he was too big and Hamish just wondered in one day and made himself at home.

Falcon and I are quite close when I visit

image image

He will occasionally follow me around he yard and as you can see he's quite a large dog but very loving

image image

Hamish usually keeps his distance but every now and again he graces me with his company. He loves to climb in the most unexpected places - can you see his head poking up from the top of the bush?

image image

And Klaus had to rescue him this time from the trellis

Gerri’s Pets
My ex-coworker, Gerald(ine) (he/she wants to remain anonymous because there's a possibility we'll think he/she's a little obsessed with pets) sent me these photos of his/her pets. Gerald(ine) and his/her husband/wife are the ultimate pet lovers - they will take in any strays and help find them homes. I will add the names of the cats and dogs as they come in.

Boo’s Drinking Water
Boo no longer likes to drink out of her cat bowl. After trying to drink out of the glass on Alex's desk she now expects her own glass of water.
