Stormy Weather in San Diego
Parts of San Diego are under water at the moment because of the heavy rain we have had over the last 2 days. I know that what we have experienced cannot be compared to other areas of the US that suffer through this on a regular basis but San Diego County infrastructure is just not built to withstand this type of weather. Driving home tonight the average speed was 35 mpg on the freeway and there were huge puddles of water everywhere that sent a few cars hyper-planing across the lanes.
For some local news and photos of the flooding and some amazing horse rescues go to Signonsandiego.com.
I've just read that it is snowing in Las Vegas and parts of I-15 in that general area are closed to traffic. I guess this storm is heading across the country.

Stormy Weather is classic Hiaasen. His writing is so sarcastic and unrestrained by reality that it reminds me a little of Douglas Adams (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) or Neil Stevenson (Snow Crash). Interestingly, these are science fiction authors and Hiaasen doesn't write science fiction, but, like these science fiction writers, Hiaasen's writing is modern and clever and his imagination knows no limits.
